The temple’s origins are steeped in ancient traditions and local legends. It is believed to be one of the oldest temples in the region, with its establishment dating back several centuries. The current structure is estimated to be around 150 years old, built in 1596 by a tribal named Baski Tatme.

Basukinath Temple holds a pivotal role in the spiritual journey of devotees visiting the Baidyanath Dham in Deoghar. It is commonly believed that the pilgrimage to Baidyanath Dham is considered complete only after offering prayers at Basukinath Dham. This tradition highlights the interconnectedness of these sacred sites and their collective significance in Hindu worship
